Sustainability & Slow Fashion
Explore
At By Instinct we are focused on sustainability across our business and are supporters of slow fashion. But what does this mean and how do we do this?
Slow Fashion is a term coined to describe a concept that is opposite to fast fashion, and promotes a slower more sustainable approach. It takes into consideration all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing in respect to people, environment and animals.
Product Sourcing & Manufacturing
We take sustainability into consideration in every part of our supply chain from sourcing fabrics to manufacturing and packaging and will continually review areas for improvement.
When sourcing products and fabrics we use suppliers that adhere to the same principles that we do and whom have supply chain integrity across the entire value chain. This way we know that we are not indirectly supporting unethical practices at any point in our own supply chain.
By manufacturing in Australia the many benefits include:
- Reducing carbon footprint
- Supporting local economy & jobs
- Ensuring factories we use adhere to Australian working standards
- High quality products with a longer lifespan
A large number of our garments are constructed from fabric made from recycled bottles and we will continue to extend our range further using these fabrics.
Packaging
We use eco friendly tissue paper, product bags and mailers that are all compostable. This means they will break down within 180 days in a home compost, or 90 days in commercial composting conditions.
